The Process of  Making

Snackid Products

December 2020

Why I create this project?

I grew up in a place where a lot of traditional grocery shop around me whenever I am at home or school. For me, snacks in my life are very important because I feel happy when eating them. They are like our family and friend who always be my side. Thus, instead of just redraw the snacks, I ask myself how to create this topic more interesting.

MY PROCESS

Looking back on the snacks I liked when I was young, there are many. But when I observe that snack and add my imagination to create a character is very challenging. But when I have an idea, I can quickly draw it in Adobe Illustrator without any sketches. All of the drafts in this project are done by mouse.

Besides design the characters, another challenging thing is to create the products. How can I put the characters in varieties of products that can more evoke people's memories?  Then, the products that we will collect during childhood coming out in my mind which is a postcard, keychain, stamp, notebook, sticker, and calendar. Some of them are easy to do, I just need to print and cut them out. But because of some products need to have mass production or require supplier so some product like keychain and stamp was not able to sell. Luckily, I asked the supplier how to make a similar outcome by myself, and she was very kind to help me find a solution.

How can I package them more effectively? That is the vending machine. The packaging of each product is designed by a vending machine or toy capsule. Also, I want to let people experience again the joy of getting an unknown product, I did a handmade vending machine.

This is my first project to communicate with a lot of suppliers, and it is also the beginning of my own brand sales. In addition, I receive some fans who really like my work for this project.
